GT hosted a Washington, D.C. reception of the National Immigration Forum (NIF) on “What Drives The Immigration Debate: A Conversation.” Welcoming remarks were made by Eddie Aldrete, Senior Vice President, IBC Bank, and Board Chair of the National Immigration Forum that recognized Laura Reiff, immediate past Chairman of the NIF, for her former and continued service and support of NIF.

A panel discussion was held and moderated by Ali Noorani, Executive Director, NIF, with Ambassador Geronimo Gutierrez, Ambassador of Mexico to the United States and Tim Dixon, Co-Founder, More in Common.

Ambassador Gutierrez spoke about NAFTA and working together as a continent to trade with the rest of the world.

Mr. Dixon provided a sociological discussion to the immigration debate. He opined that with political disruption occurring in countries around the world, those in the “political middle” are the silent majority and need to be given a voice.

The NIF announced Nov. 15 as the date for it’s next “Keeper of the Dream” leadership event in Washington D.C.

GT Team Laura Reiff, Co-Chair, Immigration & Compliance Practice, and Robert Maples, Director, Government Law & Policy Practice, attend the National Immigration Forum (NIF) on “What Drives The Immigration Debate: A Conversation.”
